nerf....

I had my first gun set at the age of 4-5, my dad even bought us a cowboy hat. It came with a belt, bullets and a spring fire revolver.

it looked something like this one..
My brother and I have some real fun during those old days…Safety was my parents major concern and we were told stories about kids playing with toy gun and accidentally shot their eye leading to blindness. My dad often damage the spring or just hide the bullet from us. Well, I am a great fun of shooting game since then although I am not a great aimer myself.
When I started getting my paycheck, I had been collecting air gun. However, it was not playable in the house as it was far too dangerous. The nerf gun provided another option, but yet it was merely a toy when it was initially launched. I had a few nerf guns when Xian was young but he was not that keen playing with it at that moment.
However our new 4th floor had been our shooting range lately…Xian and me had dug out our old nerf gun since January. All of them are still usable after 2-3 years of being stored. We had tried to fire everyone of it, including the vulcan, stampede, maverick....it was fun but yet it could be better...
I had however googled over the net and found some new edition.  I had gotten myself a slingfire and a sledgefire.
The slingfire is considered a dream gun for a fan of rifleman tv series.. I was 7-8 years old then when RTM(Radio TV Malaysia) aired the series; the main character Lucas used a Winchester model 1892. The pull and load feature easily scorched in my mind; and old gun but could fire with style.

The sledgefire mimic a leveled action shotgun; another classic. The down part is that it only come with 3 shells and is no practically usable in a nerf war…

When Xian returned from Malaysia, I had added a mega centurion, ecs-10 modulus and a rapidstrike cs-18 to my collection.
The mega centurion was a struggle as there were so many negative reviews but yet just can’t help it when you have already owned a longstrike and longshot…
ECS-10 and Rapidstrike were good for CQB run in the house due to their autoloading feature. I had made 12 targets from the wood left over from the renovation. Just scatter them around the 4th floor and volla; Xian and I could enjoy an IPSC like scenario. ECS-10 is better than Rapidstrike as Rapidstrike waste a 18 rounds magazine in 4 secs; lots of reloading needed. It is far more safety using nerf gun than using BB gun when playing in the house.

Playing with a 13 years old child in the house is fun as long as you have the proper tools. Most of the parents I knew don’t share common interest with their kids (minus mobile device of coz). They lost their ties with the kids after primary school and some of them got into trouble later on...
I picked up what I had left out during my childhood and share it with my kids. It was nice sharing memories with them and it pulled us closer to each other.

CNY...

As Yun was staying back for her study (grade 12 -> exam year); I was unable to go back to Malaysia for my CNY this year.
Ving was forced to make the trip with Xian as Xian IC was long due and my mother in law had not been feeling well for the past few months.
Luckily Airasia had started its KHH-KUL route and the passage back to Malaysia was smoother. Xian was excited as he had gotten the chance to visit KLIA2.
Unlike most of my friends, CNY is not an excitement for me as I don’t have many friends to visit during the stay. The only attraction for me in the past was the rainbow raw fish dish….however, the dish was not that special. In the past, a restaurant would pay handsomely to hire a master chef to prepare such dishes; everything was massively produced and the restaurant would just have to mix it….
My shift during the CNY was a tight one as we were down to 3.5 instead of 4 manpower this year. I did 9 calls during the 14 days period and Yun had to put up in the call room during that period. We had a good chat over her future and I felt that she would make a wise choice.
There was this 5 days night market festival during the CNY period in the town where we resided. We had patronized the night market on 4 consecutive nights – nothing to shout but yet the food was quite satisfying.
Xian was bored during the stay as Ving had been busy with my in law’s health problem…
2 weeks seems forever for me and Yun....We were busy with the laundry and meals during the period…the kitchen was in a mess and however we were managed to get it fixed before Ving’s return.

I was rewarded with a can of ubi sambal ….my favorite, it used to be 20cent per pcs(snake for a poor kid) sold by the indian roti bike seller and now the price is rocking high….still, I enjoyed it and taking a small bite of it every few days…
